For the second year in a row, Parma City Schools will be receiving funding through the Community Connectors Grant, offered by the State of Ohio, to help give more Ohio students access to role models and to inspire future career pathways.

As a requirement by the State, Parma City Schools needed to partner with a faith-based organization to effectively achieve the core principles of the grant, which include:

  1. Setting Goals to be Prepared for the 21st Century Careers
  2. Building Character
  3. Developing Pathways to Achievement
  4. Building Resiliency
  5. Believing in a Positive Future

To fulfill the character-building component, Parma City Schools selected the Campus Life ministry, under the direction of Lisa Timko, to conduct character classes and life skill groups at Hillside Middle School during the day, as well as provide an after-school club where they will have the liberty to freely share the Gospel.

cbsconnectsTimko is still seeking up to 25 volunteers who are interested in mentoring roles for the upcoming school year. The commitment can be as little as one hour per week.  The time will be 10:30 AM on Tuesdays and Thursdays from September to May at Hillside Middle School.

Community Ambassadors was privileged to be one of the lead partners in obtaining the Community Connectors Grant in the 2015-2016 school year.  We are excited to see Campus Life step in to carry the torch even further.  We believe this partnership will be a great step forward in helping our kids succeed, both in school and in life.

For more information or to apply for a volunteer role, please contact Lisa Timko at (440) 523-1080 or ltimko@campuslifecleveland.org.
