ATTENTION CHURCHES: All Hands on Deck!
By: Jeremy Kiner, Co-Director | Connection Newsletter - JUNE, 2015 | Parma Area Foster & Adoptive Care InitiativeWith over 600 kids in the permanent custody of Cuyahoga County, we need all churches engaged in the process of helping those who are fatherless and motherless find healthy, permanent homes. It may seem like a daunting task for any one church to tackle alone, but with a ratio of 1.3 churches to every 1 orphaned child in the county, we don’t have to do it alone. We each just need to do our part.
Here’s one easy way you can get involved. As a way of helping spread awareness of this need, I am asking all the pastors in the Parma area to post a flyer in their church of one of the kids currently in the foster care system. These flyers (see below) have a picture of the child on the front, along with their name and personal bio on the back. Because “out of sight is out of mind,” these flyers may help your members remain conscious of the issue and to pray for each of these children.
A SUCCESS STORY! About a month ago, I received word from one of our area pastors who had committed to posting one of these flyers in their Sunday School area. That Sunday, a couple in their church, who happened to be contemplating and praying about adopting already, saw the flyer and felt God confirm in their heart to proceed with the adoption process. This is what can happen when we each do something – even if it’s just putting up a flyer!
Where can you get a flyer? These flyers are of children currently in the foster care system, therefore you will want to ensure that you always receive a current flyer. Flyers can be obtained by contacting the Parma Area Family Collaborative at 440-887-4873. If you need any other assistance or if would like to hold a foster/adoption info session at your church, please contact Community Ambassadors at (740) 675-6155 or contact@comamb.org.
Let’s help spread the word and pray for these children! Together, we can make a difference.
