Sometimes children of families in need go hungry during the
summer months. During the school year these children are enrolled in the “free and reduced lunch” program sponsored by the Federal Government, but during the summer the young people may end up missing an important meal.

This year the Parma City School District has received funding from the Federal Government to offer free summer lunch for young people under the age of 18. The program will be housed at John Muir Elementary School, located at 5531 West 24th Street in the northeast corner of the district, and at Dentzler Elementary School, located at 3600 Dentzler Road in the southern part of the district in the State and Pleasant Valley area. Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. every weekday except July 4th.

A second more inclusive program will be held at the PCSD Hanna Building at 11212 Snow Road. This program offers both breakfast and lunch as well as activities, games, arts and crafts. Young people can attend from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. weekdays except for July 4th. This program is sponsored by the Cleveland Food Bank and the Parma Area Family to Family Collaborative.

The programs as John Muir, Dentzler and Hanna are all free, and do not require a registration. If you know of neighborhood children, or a relative who may want to participate please tell them about these opportunities. We want all children, and all of you to have a great summer vacation.
