Lets Play! It’s a phrase that’s spoken in my house, multiple times a day. Whether it is hide and seek, a board game or capture the flag, playing is what kids do best! Our family is blessed to live within walking distance of three amazing parks. It’s one of the benefits of living in the great city of Parma.

 

However, not every child has the luxury of going to any park and being able to play. Disabilities prevent some children from being able to access all of the playground equipment. It would be wonderful to have an inclusive playground in our area that offers play options for able-children and those with disabilities. There is a group of parents, professionals, and teens working to make sure that all kids can play! They are the members of All Kids Playground. They began this project in January 2012 and estimate it will take 3-5 years in addition to an estimated $300,000 to complete this huge project. The future site of this park will be at James Day Park, formerly Nike Park, located at 11828 W. Pleasant Valley Rd.

 

Our city is getting behind this awesome endeavor. "This is a really great project for our city because this playground will be the first of its kind in the area," Mayor Timothy DeGeeter said. "This playground will be for all kids, both with disabilities and without. There will be plenty for all kids to do."
